Each week we are going live on our IG with some of our #100women we highlighted during #womenshistorymonth. Every Wednesday and Friday at 12pm CST, we will be bringing you live content with a sprinkle of #blackgirlmagic with some of our favorite #bosswomen to share tools and resources on how to thrive in your career during our new normal.
Now more than ever, business owners are being faced with having to make some of the toughest decisions surrounding their businesses. They all share one common question—“how can I manage to keep my business running during this new normal?” We too deem it important as an entrepreneur and business owner to make sure we’re doing our part in producing thought-provoking content for our audience.
We caught up with the founder of Kate Lynn & Adwoa, Davida Selby on how entrepreneurs can still keep their business running during this self-quarantine period. Keep reading to find out what Davida had to say, and make sure to tune into our next Leader Convos Over Wine every Wednesday and Friday 12pm CST on our IG.
How to Keep Your Business Running While in Quarantine
Storytelling
“Storytelling is so important. It’s one of those things we all have, especially if you’re a business owner. You have a long list of to-do’s because you’re always so busy. Now is the time to pull out your paper and find out what needs to be done now that you’re home. So, if you want to retell your brand story, this is the time to do it. For me specifically, my focus is how can I get my customers to understand the owner behind the brand—and this is the time for me to do it.”
Building genuine relationships with customers
“As you’re building relationships with your customers, word of mouth begins to take place. I decided to laser focus on my current audience instead of trying to branch out and find/bring in new people. With this, my goal was the fact that, these are the people that have been talking to me, let me talk back to them.” Building these genuine relationships causes you to be intentional with the connections you’re making.
Positioning your Brand
When it comes to positioning your brand, take this time to rethink the story you’re telling about your brand. What are the current needs of your brand and how can all parties benefit from this especially during these times. One thing to also keep in mind during this time, what are your current needs and how can a black woman owned business support those needs?
