If you tuned into the Black Girl Magic Summit that took place last weekend, then you got to witness an amazing weekend full of inspiration, guidance, insight and lots of #blackgirlmagic! Capital One presented us with the Black Girl Magic Pitch Competition which featured 5 finalist and 3 grand prize winners.
There were many participants that entered for a chance to win the three grand prizes from Capital One, however not everyone was able to win. It takes a lot to put yourself out there in order to take your brand to the next level—and we at Boss Women Media know all about this. So, we wanted to do something special for the participants that did not win the grand prize, but still shared their businesses with us.
We’ve compiled a 4-part list which highlights all of the Black Girl Magic Pitch Competition participants. Keep reading to find out more about these amazing businesses!

Business Name: Rebundle
Why you started your business? After experiencing skin irritation from synthetic hair, I knew that there had to be a better way to relieve my itchy scalp than to wash the hair in apple cider vinegar. I started Rebundle to empower the community that fuels this industry to have agency over the health and environmental impact of synthetic hair products.

Business Name: She Means Business Incubator
Why you started your business? Over the last few years, the number of businesses owned by women of color, specifically Black women, has increased by 164%. However, income levels and business revenue have failed to complement this groundbreaking growth. Women of color still earn exponentially less in their businesses, and many owners have incomes that place them within the poverty bracket. SMBI combats the disparities in revenue and funding opportunities for underrepresented women founders. Since its inception, SMBI has advocated for underrepresented women founders’ rights and works to eradicate earning gaps within entrepreneurship.
What does your business do? The She Means Business Incubator helps underrepresented women founders develop viable businesses that aid their communities’ economic development. SMBI is a for-profit social enterprise. We charge a program fee for our incubator as opposed to taking equity away from startup founders. Our goal is to help women founders retain as much ownership of their companies as possible.
