Business #1: The Fab Grad
What is the name of your brand and when was it founded?
The Fab Grad – March 2017
Tell us a little bit about your product or service?
The Fab Grad is a career and lifestyle brand created by Simone Jackson. Through The Fab Grad, Simone would like to launch The Fab Collective, an online career membership for today’s young professionals. Think of it as the career center you wish you had after graduation. Members will receive monthly masterclasses with special guests that will share their journey of how they got to where they are today. They will also receive monthly workshops on topics young professionals need most to achieve their career, business, and life goals.
While The Fab Collective is mostly online, when possible we will offer in-person events and workshops as well. Lastly, all Fab Collective members will have access to The Fab Collective job board and mentor help desk. Our anticipated launch date is May 2021.
What is the mission of your product or service?
We believe support of your dreams shouldn’t stop after graduation. The Fab Collective is a resource to help today’s young professionals own their careers and launch their side hustles so that they can live the life they truly deserve.
What makes your product or service unique within its industry?
Our service is unique for three main reasons:
1. We know that “70% of new college grads would prefer to start their own business” (CPA Practice Advisor, August 2019); therefore, we want to provide resources to help our members build multiple streams of income through entrepreneurship as they enter the workforce.
2. Our membership has a specific focus on serving young Black professionals. Forbes reported that “5.5% of Black graduates are unemployed a little over a year after graduation, compared with 2.8% of white graduates” (June 2020). Therefore, a large majority of The Fab Collective workshops, masterclasses, and job listings will reflect the Black experience in the workforce and in entrepreneurship.
3. The Fab Collective helps close an achievement gap. CNBC reports that “70% of all jobs are not published on publicly available job search sites, and research has long shown that anywhere from half to upwards of 80% of jobs are filled through networking” (2019). With fewer Black people on college campuses and in executives roles, The Fab Collective helps close an achievement gap by providing networking opportunities with mid and senior level professionals, salary negotiation tactics, and eventually will provide consultations to companies on how to recruit and retain today’s young professionals, specifically young Black professionals.

Business #4: Rags Related Boutique
What is the name of your brand and when was it founded?
Rags Related Boutique, founded September 15th, 2020
Tell us a little bit about your product or service?
Rags Related Boutique is an online premium clothing store for women, started by two sisters in Northeast Ohio with a love for thrifting. We sell high quality second-hand day-to-day fashion, as well as pre-loved business professional attire that won’t break your bank. Our purpose is to build upon the ambition of working class professional women everywhere, by empowering her to look good, feel good, and do good. We eliminate the guesswork and time from the equation, by doing your clothes shopping for you — all you have to do is take a look in our closet. Our company is just about two months old, and we have several plans for the growth and expansion of our product and customer base throughout the next year.
What is the mission of your product or service?
We are a company by women, for women, and we seek to empower working class professional women around us to be the best that they can be. We want to help liberate the modern-day, empowered woman from obstacles in her way such as over-priced clothing, lack of equal opportunity, and the need for quality pieces that presents in her current day-to-day life, as well as future career. We plan to do this by selling affordably-priced, second-hand clothing to women in our target market. Our operations and practices always root back to our main focuses of empowerment, sustainability, and affordability.
What makes your product or service unique within its industry?
Within the second-hand clothing/retail clothing industries, there are several competitors who exist such as Goodwill, Target, Walmart, etc. Rags Related is a better alternative to our competition for three reasons:
1. We hand-pick all of our pieces second-hand, eliminating the need to shop for hours and hours to find the things you’re looking for.
2. Our inventory is sustainably sourced and curated, available for purchase now through our online store, and will be sent straight to your doorstep.
3. We focus on the modern-day working class professional woman, and curate clothing specifically for her day-to-day wardrobe and business professional needs — which very few of our competitors are focused on.

Business #5: Bädé Collection
What is the name of your brand and when was it founded?
Bädé Collection April 17th 2018
Tell us a little bit about your product or service?
As a woman-led company, we handcraft botanically luxe body care that relieves, restores and relaxes. We’re Harlem based, sustainably sourced and driven to cultivate more transparency around whole body wellness.
What is the mission of your product or service?
We wish to educate consumers on the benefits of plant-based relief, be a resource for whole body wellness and assist the Harlem community, especially teens and young adults, in achieving greater wellness routines.
What makes your product or service unique within its industry?
We’re handcrafted, sourced from women owned farms, our packaging and ingredients are sustainable and we wish to use our company as a vehicle to help the Harlem community thrive. Our “North Star” as a company is the idea of lifting other women of color as we climb. As a self-funded WOC entrepreneur, my main driving force is to be able to build something within the beauty and wellness sphere that’ll encourage other young girls of color to consider these as viable industries. Often times we unfortunately shy away from career fields if we don’t see ourselves reflected and I plan to build something in the community of Harlem that’ll hopefully inspire the next generation of beauty founders. We plan to utilize our experience & network to establish Bädé as a wellness resource hub for the Harlem Community. We’re the best people to do that due to our wellness industry experience, connection and mobility.
