PWR WMN

Tell us the name of your brand and when it was founded?

“PWR WMN was founded August 2018”

How did you get the idea/concept for your brand?

“We got the idea from constantly needing functional business clothes that actually felt like us. Working in a male-dominated field was a constant reminder of how subpar our clothes were compared to men’s clothing. Men’s blazers had real, usable pockets and beautiful lining while ours were just cheap imitations of theirs. We got fed up of feeling ill-prepared for any situation because of our lack of pockets and of looking like a female version of what businessmen look like. We wanted to feel and look feminine, strong, and still have functional pockets! So we started designing our own clothes and our friends LOVED them. The looks on their faces when they tried on our samples was all the validation we needed. It’s amazing how confident the right outfit makes you feel and the effect that has on your presence.”

What is the mission of your brand?

“Our mission is to empower women by giving them the clothes they need to be prepared and feel powerful. Our dream is to clothe women in confidence––confidence in their femininity, confidence in their appearance, confidence from knowing they’re prepared for whatever the day may bring. We want to be a part of women’s success and empowerment by listening to their needs and responding by designing clothes that reflect their strength and fulfill those needs. We are two women who work hard and dream even harder, so to be surrounded by other women like this is truly awe-inspiring. We DESERVE to have the right clothes and that’s why we started PWR WMN.”

What services and/or products does your brand offer?

“We make beautiful blazers with real, functional pockets. Our blazers are for the modern woman who is always ready to hand out her business card and talk about her goals. We also offer trendy pants (also with functional pockets!), skirts, shirts, and dresses that complement each other. Our blazers and business clothes are all available in one store so that women don’t have to waste their time visiting five different stores all to only get one outfit.”

If you could give advice to a new entrepreneur, what would it be?

“Just start! Don’t let your fears get in the way of your future success––we’ve all heard of “paralysis by analysis!” We entered entrepreneurship with absolutely no knowledge about what it took or what we needed to start a business. We remember actually googling “How to start an online store” and we just poured over each and every blog and article. There are a lot of resources out there and the key is to just start asking questions and learning!”

What’s one thing many people may not know about you or your brand?

“We both live in different cities! Kimberly has a 2-month-old baby and Miriam works full time. It has been incredibly hard but it has been 100% worth it! PWR WMN is something that we are very passionate about and we will continue working hard and making sacrifices to make it work!”

What are three words you would use to describe your brand?

“Empowering. Feminine. Modern.”
