4 Ways to Reset Your 2020 Mid-year Goals Presented by Toyota

Although we are only half-way through this year, 2020 has definitely been a long one, to say the least. From the death of one of the world’s most iconic basketball legends to experiencing a global pandemic, and more recently a war on racial injustice—many of us could use a complete reset.

While this year has already taken a toll on a lot of us, it’s never too late to accomplish your goals. You still have the remainder of the year to make significant accomplishments towards reaching your goals. Dust off that list and apply these 4 ways to reset your 2020 mid-year goals, presented by Toyota.

4 Ways to Reset Your 2020 Mid-year Goals

  1. Revisit and Reevaluate

Many of us have already visualized how we want the second half of this year to go. As you take this time to reset your mid-year goals, make it a priority to first revisit and reevaluate them. Think about what your initial goals were and why (for whatever reason) you weren’t able to accomplish them. From there, write down new ways that you can accomplish these goals and then set out to do just that.

The second half of this year is all about momentum. As you think about what you want to accomplish during the second half of this year, make sure:

  • You’re tackling your goals at the right time
  • You think outside of the box as to how you will reach your goals
  • Your goals are in line with your beliefs and values

  1. Spend your time wisely

After revisiting and reevaluating your 2020 mid-year goals, learning how to manage your time and energy wisely is key. Spending your time wisely is essential in making sure you actually reach these new mid-year goals. Finding ways to delegate and learning now to beat yourself up over potentially having to reset and start over is so vital in this process.

A few ways you can go about spending your time wisely when resetting your 2020 mid-year goals is writing down why you weren’t able to accomplish your goals the first time around, finding new routes to accomplish those goals and making sure you approach those goals with a new and fresh mindset. The clearer your headspace is, the more motivated you will be to reach those goals.

  1. Use the remaining six months as means of motivation

What better way to motivate yourself than to realize you don’t have much time left. At the beginning of the year, you were given 12 months to knock out your goals. Now that we are half-way through 2020, it’s crunch time. Let this crunch time serve as your countdown towards a specific deadline.

Knowing that you somewhat have a deadline, it will motivate you to be more specific and intentional about reaching your goals as well as realistic about whatever it is that you may need to let go or save for next year.

  1. Be specific in the steps you take

Now is the time to be specific in the exact steps you will take to accomplish your mid-year goals. Being that this will be a goal that will take no more than six months to accomplish (hence mid-year), you have to be even more specific in how you will accomplish it. Ask yourself the following questions:

  • What will I do specifically to reach by goals by the set date?
  • What will my outcome need to be?
  • Are there any additional factors that may hinder me from reaching my goals?

Once you understand the specific steps you will need to take, then you will be able to scale your goals accordingly. Keep in mind: make your goals specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time sensitive.
