13 Effective Productivity Hacks for Every Entrepreneur

1. Keep distractions to a bare minimum

It’s so easy to get distracted when there’s constant distractions around you. Checking your phone every five minutes, answering text messages and emails are all distractions that should be kept to a bare minimum to allow your productivity to be more efficient as you focus on the task at hand.

2. Focus on thoroughly completing one task at a time

When you focus your energy on completing one task at a time, you’re more prone to thoroughly and successfully complete the task without having to go back to it later. Studies have shown that multi-tasking isn’t sufficient because you’re dividing your time and attention into too many tasks at once. Instead, dedicate your time to completing one task and then move on to the next one– you will soon realize this will allow your brain to focus and remain consistent in getting things done.

3. Start your day off with your most important task first

Sometimes your most important tasks can take the longest to complete. If this is the case, begin your days with these tasks first. This will allow you ample time to get these things done as well as enough time to make sure you complete the smaller tasks too.

4. Become goal-oriented

Look at each day as a day to accomplish your set goals. Becoming goal-oriented goes a long way in being an entrepreneur because you’ve now giving yourself something to look forward to each day. Whether that’s establishing new marketing techniques for your business, or networking with a specific clientele: making goal-oriented objectives will allow you to feel like you aren’t truly working, but instead evolving your brand and business.

5. Designate a specific time of the day to check emails

Emails can be a complete drag– especially when your inbox is full of them! Designate a specific time of the day (maybe twice a day) to respond to and check your inbox. Any other time outside of those two designated times will simply have to wait, unless of course it’s urgent.

6. Make sure your work environment is comfortable and clutter-free

Working in a cluttered environment tends to slow down your productivity. Find ways to make sure your workspace is both comfortable and clutter-free. Studies have shown that many people tend to get the most work done when their space is both comfortable and clutter-free– it allows your brain to better process the tasks at hand.

7. Wake up earlier so your days aren’t longer

The earlier you wake up, the more time you have to get sh*t done! Waking up early has many benefits to your body as well as your work life. If you consistently wake up early each morning, you have more time to get things done, and the quicker you get things done, the more time you have for yourself!

8. Utilize a calendar management tool/app

Calendar management tools and apps are the BFF’s of entrepreneurs. These apps are extremely helpful in making sure you not only stay up-to-date with your reminders and due dates, but it’s almost like having a personal assistant that keeps you organized throughout the day. These apps are perfect in helping you plan your day-to-day schedules all while making sure you stay on track.

9. Take at least one day off during your work week to give your brain time to refocus

Entrepreneurship is a never ending full-time job! There is always something that needs to be done, so it’s important that you’re taking time for yourself so you don’t experience burnout. Even if you can’t give yourself a full day, give yourself some time throughout the week to refocus your mind and simply relax. You can’t give your all to your brand and business if you aren’t taking care of yourself first!

10. Take breaks when needed

Your body is never too old for breaks! Make sure you’re taking at least one break throughout the work day to give yourself time to rejuvenate so you’re able to remain productive. Walk around the office, grab a cup of coffee, use the restroom– whatever it is that you need to do, this is the time for that.

11. Set a schedule for the day, the night before

Knowing what your schedule will look like the night before is pivotal in being a productive entrepreneur. This will allow you to be even more prepared for the day (and prepared for any unexpected things as well) as you tackle your set goals.

12. Set timers for each task

Setting timers when completing your work tasks are very helpful and motivating. If you allot yourself a certain amount of time to make sure you completely finish a task, this will enhance your productivity and will allow you to get more things done throughout your day.

13. Eliminate perfectionist tendencies

Eliminate the idea that you must be perfect at everything you do. It’s nearly impossible to be absolutely perfect at all that you do, so stop being so hard on yourself. These perfectionist tendencies do more harm than good for you, and may even cause your productivity to lessen. Remain realistic and know that you don’t have to be a perfectionist in order to be productive.
