Meet Deja Coley, Monetary Beliefs Consultant

1. Please tell us what your role is and what it entails?

I’m a Monetary Beliefs Consultant and my role entails helping professionals and entrepreneurs to identify what limiting beliefs and stories are preventing them from achieving the success they seek.

2. How did you land this position?

After years as a self-esteem expert and working in my nonprofit, Girls Like Me, I got curious about how adults were affected by low self-esteem. I found that low self-esteem showed itself most in adults’ lives by through their money management skills.

3. What does your everyday “workday” look like?

I’m up around 8-9AM each day, I engage in a mindful breakfast before starting work. I review emails and proceed with completing my scheduled tasks for the day. Because I’m a serial entrepreneur, my hands are in a lot of pots. Some of my day consists of support my nonprofit team, general business planning (I usually plan for the week, month, and quarter ahead), searching for more opportunities to make an impact, and serving my existing client base!

4. What keeps you motivated?

I’m most motivated by my belief that God is relying on me to fulfill his wishes here on Earth. I feel so much responsibility to him to become my best version so that I can help influence others’ lives.

5. Who/what inspires your drive as a woman?

Whew! I have had quite the evolution within my life. I’ve seen myself as a complete jerk and also as a sensitive person. My own story inspires my drive because I feel like I’ve been whipped around in so many different directions that there likely isn’t a piece of my story that someone else can benefit from to help them in their own evolution.

6. What’s one important thing you’ve learned while being in your role?

I used to believe that experts didn’t make mistakes within their expertise. But, since being in my role, I’ve learned that my imperfections as a human don’t diminish my ability to be an expert at what I do.

7. If you could switch job titles with anyone in the world for one day, who would it be and why?

Vulnerability Researcher, Brené Brown. She gathers a lot of her research from real life stories of everyday people. I crave connection and if that isn’t a beautiful way to do it, I don’t know what is.

8. What do you think is the first word that comes to mind when others describe you? Why?

Oh, goodness! They better say I’m funny… Haha, but they’d likely describe me as strong-willed. I know what I want and I go get it removing the things that get in my way.

9. Where can our followers connect with you on social media?

I would love to connect with you on Instagram: @itsdejacoley
