Each week we are going live on our IG with some of our #100women we highlighted during #womenshistorymonth. Every Wednesday and Friday at 12pm CST, we will be bringing you live content with a sprinkle of #blackgirlmagic with some of our favorite #bosswomen to share tools and resources on how to thrive in your career during our new normal.
In these times of uncertainty, social distancing has become our new normal. Many of us have transitioned to working from home all while still trying to find ways to remain productive and optimistic during these trying times. We know how difficult it can be to find ways to not only occupy and maximize your time, but to also remain being an ambitious and influential leader during this time.
Given that we are all self-quarantining in order to flatten the curve, making sure we find ways to stay active and informed, now more than ever is the perfect time to adapt ways to being an ambitious leader.
We chatted with Head of Inclusion & Diversity at H&M, Ezinne Kwubiri on how to remain an ambitious leader and lead with influence during COVID-19. Continue reading to find out what Ezinne had to say, and make sure to tune into our next Leader Convos Over Wine every Wednesday and Friday 12pm CST on Instagram Live.
Leading to Influence
Lead with empathy and compassion
It’s important to remain compassionate during these times. Leading with influence is all about showing empathy for those around you. When you do your part as a leader, you are paving the way for other leaders.
Being able to provide insight from a technical educational resource perspective is pivotal in being an influential and prepared leader. People will come to you as a sense of resourcefulness, and that’s how you start building the relationship people can depend on, because you’re credible and a reliable person.
Don’t be afraid to communicate the fact that you know your sh*t
Like many leaders, if you know your shit, people can’t take that away from you. It’s important that you aren’t afraid to communicate that and contribute in whatever conversations that are taking place, so that you exemplify that you know exactly what it is you’re talking about.
When you’re ambitious, you’re not allowing anyone to dim your light simply because they’re intimidated by your success. Remain ambitious, and know that your voice matters.
Do not sit back and wait for someone to ask you to do something. Right now in this climate, there is no such thing as stepping on someone’s toes. When you take initiative, it shows you are reliable and a team player.
Tune in every Wednesday and Friday at 12pm CST on our IG for new installments of Leader Convos over Wine.
