Create a skincare routine that is unique to your skin type
Your skin is such an important aspect to your appearance. It’s one of the first things many people notice about you before they even spark a conversation. Having glowing and beautiful skin will truly contribute to your 2020 glow up! Because everyone’s skin is so different, figuring out what works best for you is extremely important.
The basics include washing your face with lukewarm water every morning and every night, having a designated toner and moisturizer, and making sure you exfoliate, and remove dead skins cells at least twice a week. No matter how tired you may be at the end of the night—don’t ever sleep in your makeup! The goal is to wake up with glowing, blemish-free skin, and we don’t want to do anything to get in between that, so make sure you’re following your skincare regime day and night!
Eat a well-balanced diet
Fueling your body with the necessary nutrients makes a huge difference in your glow up– not just weight wise, but health wise as well. Eating your required daily servings of fruits, vegetables, grains, and of course drinking lots of water will contribute to that inner and outer glow. It’s also best to keep in mind to consume everything within moderation, so cutting back on sugars, saturated fats and processed foods will also help you keep a balanced diet.
As each year comes around, we’re constantly told how important it is to exercise regularly, so we start in the gym and a few weeks pass by and we begin to fall off—who’s guilty?! When you regularly exercise, you are allowing your body to get used to constant movement and health, and we all know when you look good—you feel good!
Find a specific activity that you enjoy doing, whether that’s running, swimming, cycling or hot yoga, you should aim to exercise between 3-5 times a week, and invite your friends or coworkers to make it a little more enjoyable!
Say positive affirmations to yourself daily to build your self-esteem
There is true power in the tongue. What you speak, has the power to manifest and become your reality. Saying positive words and affirmations to yourself daily not only increases your self-esteem, but it also allows you to believe in those positive things you are saying about yourself. The more you practice positivity, the more you are allowing it into your space. Tell yourself things like, “I deserve to be happy,” “I am smart and motivated” “I will reach my goals,” and watch the glow up transpire right before your eyes!
